A Mustard Seed Inspired Dresser

So many of us furniture painters use Miss Mustard Seed as an inspiration for some of our pieces. With it’s rich colours, terrific chippy textures and emphasis on keeping the natural wood elements to some of her pieces, Marion has transformed this blogger’s vision for furniture. And so when I saw this dresser, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it…..Mustard Seed it!

I can’t believe I didn’t take a “before” picture of this beauty. I love the lines and the burled wood on the piece at the back (what is that called anyways?). So I left the top and drawer fronts au natural – acutally stripped, sanded and put a walnut glaze on the top of the dresser. Painted with ASCP in Arles, waxed, distressed and waxed with dark wax to bring out it’s deep lustre.

Almost wish I had a place for it in our house. But it’s off to the antiques booth to find a new home.
