Splish Splash, I Was Taking a Bath

It's been hot as heck here this week. Not much has been moving around lately including me as we all collectively try to stay cool. Our bird friends have found the perfect way and have been swimming in the birdbath to cool off every evening. Here's some shots that were taken last night around 6 PM. The sun is reflecting off the water droplets creating the pink tones - I didn't edit these other than to crop them for a closer view. It looks magical to me.

One of the ways to attract birds to your bath is to make sure that you change the water frequently. I've had bird baths in the past without much luck. But this one is near their feeding stations and I change the water at least once a day when it's hot. The birds seem to know when we've filled it with cool water as they came running as soon as we filled it.

Amazing bird bath pics! We love to watch them flapping around in our fountain/bird bath. Hasn't been overly warm here though... no need to cool off!

Thank you so much for your sweet comments and invitation to the Block Party! I am always so happy to find Canadian Flags and Canada Day decor too.

I just found a good clip art image online and made my flag in PS Elements using my finished board sizes. Then I just printed out the maple leaf (took 3 pieces of paper pieced together to work for my 17x33 sign). It should have been 17x34, but I didn't want to cut the ends of the boards as I love their weathered look. Technically, the inside white square should be 17x17. Easy peasy. I've always envied the US flag with blue in it, but hey, ours is easier to paint. he he

Thanks again for the visit, and I am anxious to get some time to come back for a good look around!

Those are fabulous shots of the birds frolicking in your birdbath. They do come to mine, but I have never gotten pictures as good as these.

Fabulous pictures! I agree keeping the bird baths freshened up is essential- besides murky water appears quickly if you don't!
Great job on the pictures!

Wonderful photos! It's hot where I live, too, and today I saw three pigeons standing around in the spray of someone's sprinklers, lifting their wings and turning round and round as though they were showering!

LOVE these photos!! We have 2 bird baths in the back and one in our front yard, and they are all well used. I enjoy seeing the birds splash away...they leave quite a wet area around the bath afterwards! Enjoy the end of June~

Just like I enjoy watching a cat eat, and enjoy it's food, I love watching birds take a bath, such joy and enthusiasm, and your images are captured with so much of that kind of joy~
