Last year, we stumbled upon Deer Ridge Farm after spotting an ad in our local paper for a "Christmas Open House". Little did I know that by the time we arrived to this 3 day event on the last day, 95% of the decor items and ALL of the furniture items had been sold. There are two sides to this homebased business - Connie does all the decor items - small pieces, candleholders, florals, ornaments and some fashion items. Bill does all the carpentry in the back shop where he makes new pieces from old.
Taking worn out, vintage pieces of wood and furniture, Bill transforms them into new headboards, side tables, shelves, bookcases, farm tables and even kitchen islands and cabinets. His storeroom is filled with discarded table legs, sideboard bases and scrap pieces of wood which he collects all over Southern Ontario and the Northern U.S. Stripping them down, Bill then finishes the newly assembled pieces by painting them all a fresh white.

We've struck up a bit of a friendship over the months of me harassing him for my table. Today I was there again and came home with a couple of old window frames, two iron finials shaped like fleur-de-lys and 4 wooden chairs from a local church (you can see them hanging from the wall in the top of the photo above). These are for the yet to arrive table which will go in the kitchen. One day, one day.
An assortment of items from Bill's workshop include corbeils perfect for kitchen renos or bookshelves as in the photo on the middle left, cupboards, sideboards, bookcases and even custom made kitchen islands - the one above is an example of Bill's customer work.
Deer Ridge Farms is located in Innerkip, Ontario - just outside of Woodstock. If you are interested in visiting the farm, you must call ahead to book an appointment or get lucky and see their booth at a local vintage/antique show in Southern Ontario.

Have a great week :)
I could go crazy in that place. I see why you love it so much...the furniture is beautiful. I wish I didn't live so far away. South Mississippi to Ontario is quite the road trip :)
BTW, thanks for linking up your guest bath remodel with me. Wythe blue is one of my favorite colors and looks so good with the stenciled pattern over it. Good job!
Welcome back,
Shasta
Wonderful place and fabulous work...I loved that first sideboard!
Bahhh!! I just freaked out a little bit. Oh, if only Toronto weren't so far away. Everything is fabulous!
Beautiful! I'm a new follower from

Wow he has some lovely items. I love old furniture painted white but my husband does not. We have a lot of spirited debates about that one. Valerie
Sinply fabulous. I'm your newest follower
Oh, that's beautiful! If we ever move to Ontario (I've been trying to convince my husband for the past 10 years), I'll definitely have to go shopping there!
Those are all beautiful items. What a find you've made!
I am loving all that you are doing here!
Weren't you lucky to find this new friend?
I love to have a few days in Toronto, to visit my sister, once a year. Just enough shopping, a couple of shows and lots of late night chats, and then I've had my 'fix' for a while!
We just "discovered" Bill this past fall (also through an ad in the paper)...and to think he lives only 15 minutes away from us!! He is fantastic to work with and completely saw the visions we had for when it comes to furniture pieces. He was able to create a sideboard for us using two old windows. We absolutely love it and have received positive comments from our guests. My husband and I are all for shopping and supporting local because it's comforting to know who makes our furniture and where it came from.
Just recently I discovered another local furniture maker (off of kijiji.ca) in the area (Alymer, ON)...but the incredible thing is, is this kid is in grade 9 and self taught! Check it out:
