Right now with the unusually warm weather, we've been treated to an early show of daffodils, crocuses, scilla and magnolia (which is blooming at least 3 weeks ahead of schedule).

One of the reasons we fell in love with the house was because of the huge magnolia tree in the front yard. Always one of my favorites, it was probably this tree that caught my eye on the listing first. It's putting on quite a show right now with it's huge pink blossoms (bottom centre).
And it'd always been a dream of mine to have scilla naturalised throughout the lawn. Little did I know that this dream would come true with the little side yard beside the garage (top right). This spot is usually ignored as it's only about 10 feet wide and is in an unused area of the property. But man, oh man, it's glorious right now.
Another favorite in the garden right now is the lungwort (centre picture). If you don't have this in your garden, go and get some. It's multi-hued flowers are spectacular and the dappled leaves provide nice summer interest after the early blossoms fade away. A great plant for the front of a garden bed as it only grows to about 6" high but mounds nicely.

Spring is lovely at your house. I left a lawn of scilla at another house and have been trying hard to establish something similar here, but after 9 years we're still a long ways away.
What beautiful blooms! Wow, I really need to move East! There's nothing blooming here on the prairies! Although I do have a tiny bit of green from my perennial bachelor's buttons.
So beautiful!! I need to learn how to garden.
So pretty and colorful, of course...and I love to see what other parts of the world look like this time of year! I think I told you we have one of those magnolias too...we call them "saucer" or "Jane" magnolias here. But mostly I cannot help but celebrate the way life lets little dreams like this come true for you, in unexpected ways. I love that. Thanks for sharing our garden, Heather So beautiful. xoxo (by the way I am ignoring spring cleaning and sewing in favor of garden fun too!!!)
