Okay, so I’m a week late for linking up with Funky Junk Interior‘s Picture Perfect Room project party. I have a good excuse because I was away in Halifax for a week at my sister’s. But truthfully, this room is far from picture perfect. That being said, I want to show you some of the progress and what will be the biggest transformation so far, the bathroom vanity.
This is what it looked like before, a big blog of brown in an otherwise beige room. It’s heavy hardware did not blend well with the grey and white granite top. It looked mammoth in the room as the only shot of any colour. In other words, it needed to be changed up.
So to the rescue is this new product I’ve just discovered, CabinetCoat paint. Described as the toughest enamel out there, this paint creates a factory like finish on wood and metal. Acrylic based and easy to clean up. It transformed the dark wood into a high gloss finish covering with 3 coats beautifully. A light sanding in between coats assured an even coat without many brush strokes. I am going to use this paint to redo the kitchen cabinets but will spray it on for an even smoother look.
I even spray painted the existing hinges a sparkling silver to coordinate with the cooler tone of the cabinet and hardware.
One final step will be to coat the cabinet with some polyurethane to fully protect the paint from any scratches and to add a bit more shine to the piece.
So Step 1 of the bathroom redo is
almost complete. The first coat of paint is up on the walls, the trim is finished in it’s new coat of BM Cloud White and the shutters are down, fabric bought for a faux roman shade. I’m on my way. But still not ready for a full reveal – perhaps at the end of February.
The manufacturers of CabinetCoat don’t even know I exist, I just like the product and wanted to share it with you.
