What colours do you use in your Christmas decorating? Do you stick to the tried and true green and red or are you on trend with the purples and turquoises I'm seeing everywhere this year?
For many years I've decorated for Christmas solely in creams and golds,. But now that we are in a new home with a softer look to the living room, I wanted to change things up a bit and add some warm tones to the decorating this season. So with colour swatches in hand, I headed out to find some new treasures for the wood mantle and came home with some glitter and warmth.
With the new colour on the walls finished just last weekend, it was time to dress the mantle with some Christmas cheer. The three trees were a set from Canadian Tire (can you believe it), gorgeous cut out pattern with warm brown/copper glitter.
Some pine garland (faux), a smattering of gold balls and pinecones and a dusting of "Buffalo snow" and the mantle looks festive and warm.
The last couple of additions were these great acorn ornaments (Martha Stewart collection at Home Depot) and some paper and twig balls from the basket that normally sits on the coffee table.
Oh and as a footnote: the lights on the wreath are so cool!!! I was desperately looking for battery operated lights at the Walmart when the salesperson pointed me in the direction of these really cool LED lights. They are basically a thin wire with optic lights in them. And they are on a timer so they go off on there own after six hours and then COME BACK ON AT THE SAME TIME THE NEXT DAY. How smart is that? Love them. I got the last box at the Woodstock store.
And the paint colour is Benjamin Moore Lambskin (CC1051). It actually looks a lot more yellow in the photos but is really a browner beige.
